چکیده

Abstract A sedentary lifestyle in nursing home residents is often accompanied with reduced life space mobility and turn affects satisfaction life. One of the reasons for this may be limited ability to find one’s way around care facility its environment. However, spatial orientation exercises might reduce these problems if they are integrated into an adequate cognitive-motor training. Therefore, we six novel target group-specific established multicomponent group training evaluated feasibility. Forty (mean age: 87.3 ± 7 years) participated cognitive motor (45–60 min, twice a week over period 12 weeks). The main outcomes included feasibility criteria (adherence, completion time, acceptance, instructions, performance, materials/set up, complexity) first measurements (SPPB [Short Physical Performance Battery], SWLS [Satisfaction Life Scale]). Adherence increased time. increase was associated adaptions modifications that were made meet participants’ requirements. positive trend discerned satisfaction, comparing pre- posttraining data. In summary, analysis revealed future interventions should consider (a) instructions demanding tasks by example task, (b) trainers encouraged adjust task complexity materials on individual basis, (c) acceptance promoted among staff, (d) surroundings as little disturbance possible selected

A cognitive-behavioral pain management program for elderly nursing home residents with chronic pain was compared with an attention/support control treatment in a randomized pre-/post-comparison group design with follow-up. Thirteen women and nine men, ranging in age from 61 to 98 (M = 77.2), from two large nursing homes participated in the treatment programs through 10 weekly group sessions. Re...

Pain treatment for nursing home residents differs according to cognitive state – a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Communication skills are known to decrease with advancing cognitive impairment. Analgesic treatment in long-term care may be deficient due to the residents' impaired ability to communicate their pain and needs. Undertreated pain frequently leads to rising BPSD in residents with cognitive impairment, resulting in a treatment with antipsychotics. Aim of this study was the analysis of d...
